Description
Abstract
Plays are the basic stratigraphic unit of analysis used by MMS in the National Oil and Gas Assessment and represent the second-order division of the stratigraphic column. Plays are divisions of series bound by seismic-stratigraphic surfaces associated with changes in depositional environments. In addition to serving as stratigraphic aggregations for resource assessments, within a single field all oil and gas accumulations that occur within a play boundary are defined as a pool.
Purpose
Analysis for oil and gas exploration and production in the Gulf of Mexico.
